Guest Blogger Angelina Rain joins me today!!!

Ladies and Gents, if I may draw your attention to this smoking vixen right here..

This lovely vision is self proclaimed "author-in-training" Angelina Rain and she is here to tell us all about what happens when an erotic romance author's family eventually discover the truth behind their literary muse!

Let’s Talk About Sex

When I told my family I was publishing a book, everyone was happy for me. There were promises from everyone to buy a copy of my book. I was on cloud nine, having my dreams so close to reality. . .
Until the book cover came in. When I told my mother I finally got my book cover, she was jumping toward the stars with me, and then asked to see the cover.
“Why are there two guys?” she asked, the sparkle in her eyes slightly fading. Uh-oh. In all my happiness of getting published, I forgot to tell her what I was publishing. I informed my mother that the woman sleeps with two guys in this anthology. I saw the confusion in my mother’s eyes, but I had to add some salt to the wound so I added, “At the same time.” Needless to say, my mother didn’t answer to that. Instead, she went over to the sink and started washing dishes.
A few days after that, I sat down to make my website and started private messaging with my cousin. The congratulations for my book were flowing out and my cousin (who’s an artist) started giving me advice for my site. She told to go with delicate flowers and light colors, a romantic theme that could melt even an icy heart. But wait, none of that actually represented what I was publishing. Obviously, my mother hadn’t told her what my book was about and once I informed her, the messages stopped. Eventually, I got an “Oh, okay then” out of her and all the web design advice came to an end.
So that was a lesson I learned when publishing my first erotica. Some people will look down on you once they find out what you’re writing. Although my family, once the information sank in, got over it and continued lending me their support, other people were not so accepting. Still, even now when I know better, I still write erotica. Why? Because it’s me. Ultimately, I’m the one writing it, and I’m the one who’s enjoying what I write. So despite the judgment from people regarding what I write, I still wouldn’t have it any other way.

Indecent Encounters
A Ménage Anthology, including “The Problem with Love Spells” by Angelina Rain
Sometimes a woman needs more than a lover…
Independent, lustful ladies find pleasure and intrigue with more than one man, from a scandalous vacation inAustralia, to a forced seduction at a cabin in the woods. A witch needs to break a shameful spell, and an older woman slakes her sexual needs with two younger men. Cougars purr with unrequited desire and werewolves compete for the love of their mate. Satisfaction is just a sigh away as a surgeon bends the rules for her patient, and an over-stressed boss finds more than a little peace with secret admirers.
Find out what wicked delights await you with Indecent Encounters.

The Problem with Love Spells
When you’re cursed to live your whole life unloved, can you really be held responsible for casting a love spell? When Gretchen realizes that her love spell went wrong, her only option is to reverse it before too much damage is done. However, when she wakes with a werewolf and a vampire in her bed, she learns that even reversing a love spell could have its consequences.

Angelina that is hilarious. My mom had a moment like that too after recommending my book to family members! I loved your story.

a werewolf and a vampire!!! now that would be an interesting night between the sheets!!!!! What gave you the courage to sit and actually put pen to paper so to speak?

My mother told me she would be happy to read one of my novels - as long as I went through and blacked out all the "naughty stuff".

Yeah, right - like that's gonna happen.

But she still loves and supports me, and gushes whenever she sees a friend or family member. Don't let it get to ya Angelina :) Hold your head up - I don't give a flying fig what others think!

Helen, thank you for all the comments. My family got over it since then. Although they didn’t read the book, they are still supportive toward me and bragging about me to anyone they encounter. The other day, I had to explain to my mother’s boss what an e-book is and why he can’t buy my book in paperback just yet. As for having courage to write my story – I’ve always been a fan of erotica, maybe because that was the only genre forbidden for me, and I’ve always loved to secretly write erotica, so when I heard that Evernight Publishing was looking for erotica, I jumped on it.

Delilah Hunt, thank you. Funny how families can be. I’m glad you liked my story, although yours was so much better. Out of all 8 stories, yours was my favorite.

Alexandra O'Hurley, thank you. My family has gotten over it since then, although my mom wants me to read my writing to her out loud so that I could edit out those parts as I go, and she wouldn’t have to know about them.

My mother didn't ask and I didn't tell her. I think it's just better that way. :-)

I am a little surprised at your cousin. I would have been thrilled for the freedom to suggest more exciting imagery.

Dear Angelina,
I just got a visual after reading your comments of you and your mum ( yes I am Aussie) sitting on the couch and you blushing and stammering over the good bits as your mum just stares out the window refusing to acknowledge it. too funny

Angelina, you're my girl! We have to write what we enjoy. We can't box ourselves in. I can't imagine how hard that conversation with your mom was. I laughed that she did dishes - that is so MY mom!! You are published. We need women who write erotica! But you are so more than just that. You're author with multiple talents. You're a cool chick and one of my favorite blog peeps! I support you 100%. I can't wait to read Indecent Encounters!!
